Come On Get Crafty - WISH Birthday Card

Thursday, January 22, 2015

I am sharing a project featuring these awesome colored enamel dots from Freckled Fawn.

I don't think you can ever have enough birthday cards!  I used Distress Inks to watercolor this die cut tag from Pink Paislee in a rainbow of hot pink, orange, yellow, green, aqua and blue.  I tried to match the vibrancy of the enamel dots and of the background die cut card from American Crafts.  I messily heat embossed gold glitter at the bottom of the water color tag.

Instead of using sequins, I thought it would be fun to use these vivid enamel dots around
a tag watercolored n the same colors. Thank for stopping by the Blog today!

#SMILE, ENJOY AND SHINE ON - Scrapbook Circle Take 2

Monday, January 19, 2015

I am sharing my Take 2 Challenge with on the Scrapbook Circle Blog today.  This is a challenge/assignment where we chose one of our previous layout from the Scrapbook Cirlce team, or another DT member's page as inspiration.  I decided to lift one of my own pages from last January.  Some of the colors in this months kit, All You Need is Love, remind me of the January 2014 colors and papers.

For my layout last year, I used several different patterns in varying sizes to build a base for one black and white photo.  Since one of my reasons for lifting this layout below was the colors, I printed my photo in black and white again.

For this month’s page, I used the same general layout design, replacing a couple blocks with a journaling card and with a piece of cardstock, the exclusive heart stencil and some tinted modeling paste.

I even used misted wood veneers in the same spot as the previous layout, except these are another Scrapbook Circle exclusive that is part of the January kit.  I finished off the page with some teal ink splatters and word stickers for my title.

Sometimes, we are so busy looking for inspiration in galleries, blogs and Pinterest, that we forget the best inspiration might be in our own scrapbooks already!  Thanks for stopping by today.  Have an amazing day!

hello 2015 - Scrapbook Circle January Sketch

Friday, January 16, 2015

Happy Friday everyone!
A new year, a new month, a new awesome sketch!  This is my take on the January
Scrapbook Circle sketch using the 'All You Need is Love' kit and the 'Hello Love' Add-on.

This is the sketch below, or you can find the original blog post on Scrapbook Circle HERE.

This month, half of my layouts were pastels and half were bold blacks, reds and gold.
This was one of the bolder pages, using several of the Scrapbook Circle tags that are
a perfect match to the red script paper from Amy Tangerine.

I used a couple pieces of the 6x6 pad from Pink Paislee for layering under my photo and
a couple of the gold glittered tags from American Crafts, DIY collection.
I painted some teal watercolor over a couple phrases within the script paper for contrast.

I love Diana's sketches because they are simple enough to give a hint of direction and inspiration
without being limiting while at the same time leaving plenty of room for interpretation and personalizing!
That is a complex task to achieve all in one sketch! :)

Be sure to check out the sketch challenge on the Blog and enter your take on the sketch
to be eligible for the prize.  Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

love for like ever - Scrapbook Circle One Item Wonder

Thursday, January 15, 2015

Hi there!  I am sharing one of my favorite projects in a while.  In the January Scrapbook Circle kit, they included more exclusive products than ever...wood veneers, a stencil, stamps, tags and these awesome candy colored acrylic hearts!

I wanted to use them in a different way and make a big impact by using all of them together.
We recently had a little photo shoot with my nieces.  I thought it would be cute to make a small
'cousin' tree and hang their pictures from it along with those hearts.

I wanted to focus on the hearts and their lovely colors, so I printed my photos in black and white and punch them out.  I painted a light watercolor wash on the cardstock.  I used the heart stencil with distress ink to make them seem like falling heart leaves...I know, lots of sappy symbolism, but that
is what I was thinking!!

I used my Silhouette to cut out this simple tree shape from the 6x6 Pink Paislee pad and looped the thread wrapped hearts around the branches.  I added a few word stickers under each heart and the gold phrase stickers to the bottom for my title.  I misted one of the wood veneer open hearts to match the other and stitched it to the page!

Check out how the rest of the Scrapbook Circle used these fun hearts on their pages on the Blog.

DOWNHILL...Come On Get Crafty - Everyday. Life. Documented.

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Today is my day to post my version of Project Life for the Come On Get Crafty DT.  It doesn't
have to be Project Life, and since I don't do it, yet, I chose some everyday photos from the day after Christmas.

Sam got a "big boy bike" for his 8th birthday.  It could still take training wheels, but he doesn't need them anymore, thank goodness!  This bike, with no possibility of ever having training wheels (at least for Sam) was a special gift!

I printed out these photos taken in succession of our maiden voyage, the day after Christmas.
The weather has been so crazy, he was wearing short sleeves; part of the weather record to say the least!  I used the Crate Paper concentric genealogy chart paper and a piece of neutral cardstock as the background for my page.

I made a little cluster of layers underneath my 3 photos using a die cut from Dear Lizzy,
some Pink Pasilee paper and a shipping tag.  Adding some wood veneer pieces
to balance out colors and the horizontal photos and enamel dots, I finished the layout.

Happy New Year everyone!
Yesterday I shared one of my layouts using the January ‘All You Need is Love’ main kit and a few pieces of the ‘Hello Love’ Add-on.  The colors for this kit are amazing, both sides of the spectrum.  Black and whites and bold colors that I used in this layout, plus lots of lovely pinks, greys and turquoise too.  I took my inspiration from these photos for this page.

Sometimes, with papers and patterns this vivid I print my photos in black & white.  I decided to challenge myself, using the papers and patterns to create a layout that balanced the colors in the photos.  After seeing these photos of my son giving his grandparents hugs, I picked out this 6×6 piece of black Pink Pasilee paper with tiny frames.  I also knew I wanted to use the bold red script paper from Amy Tangerine.  laying those side by side I tried to chose other papers that matched or complimented those colors.

I also varied the pattern, so there is a range between smaller stripes to larger, small text to large script and the the polka dots to break up all the straight lines.  I randomly hand cut all the papers using larger pieces for the two original patterns I chose.  I stapled some, sewed some and centered it all using the gold foam phrase words from Crate Paper for my title.

I stapled some, sewed some and centered it all using the gold foam phrase words from Crate Paper for my title.  Basically, I just played with the papers until I got the colors and patterns balanced!
