HEY YOU there! - Scrapbook Circle October Kit

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

I am sharing another layout using the October ‘On This Day’ kit & the ‘Right Now’ Add-on from Scrapbook Circle.

The October kit isn’t theme based for Halloween, but the colors are perfect for Fall and in this case great for a masculine page.  The exclusive Scrapbook Circle triangle stamps inspired me to make a banner, much like the Mood Board from September.  The cork banner from Elle’s Studio also inspired me to cut these a large banner shapes as the matte for the photo.

One of the things I love about Scrapbooking kits and collections around this time of year is that they remind us to focus on being thankful.  My favorite projects and pages are those that capture moments showing the blessings in our life, reminding us to be grateful now and then in the future looking back at a page like this.  This photo is of my husband and his college roommate/best man.  We don’t get to see and his wife that often, but when we do, it is a seamless return to the friendship that has lasted years…truly something to be thankful for.

I stamped lots of the triangle stamps with black,  trimmed them out and sewed them together.  The patterned paper from Fancy Pants with the triangular pattern was a great match and scale and for the banner.  The yellow ochres, cork paper and embellishments made it warm and Fall-ish.  I added some watercolor in the background to tie in those colors and stretch out the cluster a bit.

Banners and heart stamps shouldn’t be limited to birthdays, girls or other specific celebrations…how about just the celebration of life and friendship?!  I hope you all remember to document your everyday blessings…after all, isn’t that what is really important?  Have a wonderfully amazing day!

Soft & Subtle vs. Bold & Bright - Pinkfresh October Projects

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Hi there!  I am excited to share my October Pinkfresh Studio projects with you...

I am a fairly diverse scrapbooker, usually basing my specific approach
to each layout based on either the photo or products I want to use.  In this case, I took my
cues from the photos and they turned out very different.  One subtle, one not so much.

I recently came across this box of great black & white photos my Dad had taken 14 years ago and developed himself.

I found a couple die cuts that match the Scribble Circle metal die from Pinkfresh and then
watercolored them all.   I threw in some enamel dot stickers and used the wood drop stickers in clusters,
to echo the triangles in the background paper.

In complete contrast to the layout above, this photo of these sassy
children screamed for bright, bold colors and a fun title!

I gold embossed onto a plain white tag.  I also used the gold puffy border stickers in a frame all around the photo.

A few wood veneer color block hearts and enamel label stickers framed the date and other die cuts.
I used the transparent alphas for my title and some wood drop stickers pointing to it.

I love that sometimes a photo inspires a completely different approach, in color, embellishment or theme.

Thanks for stopping by the today...have an amazing day!!

this little light - Come On Get Crafty Product Showcase

Saturday, October 18, 2014

Hi there crafters! I wanted to share a layout I made inspired by the Gold Foil Paper from Pebbles, brand
new to the Come On Get Crafty shop!  It is gorgeous and inspiring...perfect for this photo of my son with a sparkler.

I love gold, all of the gold trend, glittery, smooth and sparkly!  I previously used this gold foil paper to die cut sentiments for cards and thought I would use it in reverse too; as the backing behind a die cut title.  We had a neighborhood party recently, and not out of any other cause to celebrate, but neighbors, friends and left over sparklers!  Is there anything better as a kid?  It is a little piece of magic that last 45 seconds, maybe a minute, and sometimes offers a fabulously captured photo.

I wanted the title and gold to be the focus, so I used some chalkboard paint over a piece of Imaginisce Wood Grain paper.  I knew I wanted my journaling to really pop, like the sparkler, so chalkboard paint was the answer.  I used a few other embellishments under my photo like the Crate Paper Vellum Overlays, a Dear Lizzy tag, a couple additional pieces from the Jen Hadfield 'Homemade' Pebbles collection and some Enamel Dots from Freckled Fawn.

I love using lots of little bits and pieces, but sometimes, it needs to be all about the gold!
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you all have an amazing, sparkly day!

Scrapbook Circle - One Item Wonder - Stars*

Friday, October 17, 2014

Happy Friday everyone!
This is the LO I did for my Scrapbook Circle October assignment highlighting
the gold & silver chipboard stars, part of the 'On This Day' kit.

Stars are a great staple embellishments, especially for boys.  Stars are great for girls too, but I think of
butterflies and hearts for girls and stars as more masculine.  There are also enamel star stickers from Chickaniddy crafts that are part of the 'Right Now' Add-on kit.  I wanted to use these photos of my son with this giant Styrofoam plane, which has 5 lbs. of packing tape covering it (thank you Daddy) since it has crashed so many times!

I randomly cut pieces of patterned paper using just my scissors.  I wanted to make those strips the
background from my photos and have the stars and arrows "orbit" around whole cluster.
The Pinkfresh Studio wood veneer enamel chevron arrows are great because they pick up a bit
of the shine from the enamel as well as the colors from the rest of the embellishments

I constantly have my personal soundtrack, to my life, in my head and so the Coldplay Song
"A Sky Full of Stars" seemed to be a perfect fit.  This little man certainly does light up the path
with his smile, and he has had my heart since the moment I first saw him! :)

Thanks for stopping by to let me share this page and I hope you check out all the designs from

Have an amazing day and great weekend!

SUNDAY PAPER - Come On Get Crafty October sketch

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Good morning!  Just wanted to post this page I did last week, using the Come On Get Crafty
sketch for October.  You can find the sketch below and see the original post HERE!

I printed out a mask/background on my Silhouette Cameo and misted it using several colors of brown.
I wanted the Woodgrain background paper to show up but still be able to read the letters as well.

I picked some other Wood Veneer pieces from Basic Grey, new to the shop and wrote my
journaling on several of the Crate Paper Kraft Stickers that are also new.

So stitching and Enamel Dots finished it up!

Check out some of the other DT takes on the sketch and link up  your page with to the Blog for a chance to win a
$5 credit to the store!  You have until October 25th and there is some fabulous new product, so get crafty!
Have an amazing day!

CREATE happiness - Scrapbook Circle October Sketch

Monday, October 13, 2014

Here is my take on the October sketch for Scrapbook Circle using the 'On This Day' kit and one of the Add-ons.

I had so much fun doing this sketch, which you can see below
or go to the original post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog HERE.

I wanted to use this photo I took of my misting box after I used it with a mask I cut on my Silhouette.
It looked so cool and thought it would be great with the chipboard from Fancy Pants that is in the 'Right Now'
Add-on.  I didn't use two photos like the sketch but used one photo and the little polka dot bag instead.

I loved that background paper with the multi-colored dots, but need a darker color in contrast to the digi cut frame I had over my photo.  So I cut the piece of teal paper in random squares and rectangles and assembled them back in place.  I used my gelatos to color the circle shape from the sketch and layered my photo cluster on top!

Go check out the original post on the Blog to see the other DT takes on it!
To participate link up your page based on the sketch to the post above, or to the
Scrapbook Circle Facebook page by October 22nd.

This is the awesome prize from Elle's Studio, so get busy!
Have an amazing day!

triple TROUBLE - Scrapbook Circle October Designer's Choice

Thursday, October 9, 2014

Hi everyone!  It’s Jenni here to share one of my favorite pages I created using the Scrapbook Circle October Kit – ‘On This Day’ and the ‘Right Now’ Add-On.   There are so many schools of thought about design & color composition, I learned lots of them in college.  We all have heard and/or practice them…use odd numbers to keep elements dynamic, use color or embellishments to lead to your eye around the page and offer balance, yada, yada, yada.  No offense to my art and design teachers, I do agree, but lately have been drawn to use multiple hues of the same color and all in one area.  The October kit is perfect for this kind of design!

As usual, Lisa has done an outstanding job of pulling pieces from different collections that all work so well together.  This amazing painterly paper from Chickaniddy paired perfectly with the Echo Park days of the week paper in a rainbow of colors.  I wanted to use this photo of my daughter and some friends that came over for our Friday Night Movie night, so the days of the week was ideal!  After cutting the two background of papers at a diagonal, I layered my photo onto some of the Fancy Pants ‘True FRIEND’ 6×6 pad, part of the Add-On.

I then chose stickers, chipboard and punched some more from the 6×6 pad to match all the colors.  Again, all the embellishments are from different collections, but such a great match.  I layered the embellishments on top of a similar color in the paper and hid the sharp diagonal line of my two background patterns.  My husband came up with the title for me, very appropriate, although a little scary! ;)

Thanks for stopping by the blog today and letting me ramble about color grouping!  The October kit is a variety of so many patterns and colors that you need to check out Idea Gallery for the range of inspiration from the DT! Have a wonderful day!

love this DAY - Come On Get Crafty...A Few of My Favorites

Sunday, October 5, 2014

This is the page I did last week for my blog post at Come On Get Crafty.

In our constant budget conscious life, fresh flowers are a luxury, (as are new scrapbook products) but in September where almost every woman in our family has a birthday, flowers are abundant!  It is glorious and sometimes feels excessive, but always makes me smile to see them brighten a room!

Not to mention, the Chipboard Frames from Crate Paper that have become a favorite staple to add a small accent or dominate a page by over use, like this! :)  To balance out the dark centers of the sunflowers, I used one of the Chalkboard Label Stickers from Pebbles behind one of these frames.  The layered my die cut title that I watercolored to match my photos.   I added several of those Accent Stickers on top of the chipboard frames and at a cluster at the top of the page.

The Wood Veneer leaf from the Basic Grey collection by Kelly Purkey I anchored in place with some yellow jute twine.  I stitched several lines through both the frames and the top and bottom borders of the page to add texture and make sure the embellishments stayed in place.  Some gold droplets of paint can never be a bad thing!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope this has inspired you document some favorites of your everyday blessings!
Have an amazing day!
