My Top 10 Favorites in 2013!

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Happy New Year's Eve!!
This year has flown by, this holiday season even faster.  And so in beginning a new year with
new projects, I have been cleaning up my craft room and trying to get organized!  No, really...
Well, anyway, I am trying to get my recent layouts put into their scrapbooks.

I love looking back on how much or what I accomplished this year and it is even
more effective to see them all like this.  It shows a clear pattern to my evolving style
and trending colors, products, even techniques!

So, here they are, in no particular order...I will add that 3 of my favorites I cannot
include since they will be published in 2014.  That is so exciting to me that they are my
favorites and have the potential to inspire a reader at some point in the future.

Thank you to everyone who has left feedback and love and for even reading to the bottom
of some posts that rambled on and on...I have have so many blessings to scrapbook this year.
Happy New Year!

WISH COME TRUE. Scrapfriends December Sketch Challenge

Saturday, December 28, 2013

I loved this sketch from Scrapfriends and even though this is such a crazy busy time, I had to squeeze it in!
And since these photos were taken almost exactly 7 years ago...a little birthday homage to my baby.

I love their sketches so much because they fit with my style of layers and patterns and lots going on!
And I think they are pretty specific but at the same time open for interpretation!

I interpreted the dark paint lines as layers of vellum, colored, plain
and the star pattern acetate over watercolors.

I interpreted the polka dots or dot pattern as stars and punched them
as well as used silver and white modeling paste with a stencil.

These pictures of my son were taken the day we got home from the hospital on Christmas Eve.
He decided to show up almost 4 weeks early and while it was unexpected, unplanned and painful, literally...
it is still the best Christmas present I have ever gotten!

December Sketch & Stash Challenge at Scrap Our Stash!

For this challenge we are excited to announce that we are teaming up with

The Challenge:
Complete a layout inspired by the Sketch~N~Scrap sketch below
AND….you must use (2) different border punches and one other type of punch.

Here’s the Sketch~N~Scrap sketch:

I also made a process video showing my LO from being created.
Click the link above on go to my YouTube channel.

Although I really had planned to do a Christmas layout with the challenge I was
very inspired by this gorgeous wood grain star burst paper and the colors in this
leaf my daughter found.  So, it is became a final tribute to Fall instead.

I used three border punches including the Notebook Edge punch, a Stitched edge punch
and basic Scallop punch.  I used a large circle punch for the top left cluster of embellishments.

I wanted to share my next installment of my December Daily.
Somehow, despite the crazier that has become our life this month, I am only a couple days behind!
It is a small miracle!

Christmas Card - Scrapbook Circle Card Sketch Challenge

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

This is the card I made using Diana's card sketch for the Scrapbook Circle Challenge!

SC-sketch-1213

The paper are from the Holly Jolly Add-on and the Cardstock for December.
The die-cut CHEERS is part of the Scrapbook Circle digital files that are part of the kit.
I love the smaller patterns in the 6x6 pad from Allison Kreft and nothing leaves my craft room without sparkle during the month of December!!  Well, except for maybe me ;)

Sadly the Add-On from December is sold out...but the main kit is still available and there are
lots of pieces to it that would be great for January or patterns that could be used anytime.
Or, if you are like me...you might need supplies to finish your December Daily, in January!

Thanks for stopping by!

can you define naughty? Scrapbook Circle Lifting You

Monday, December 16, 2013

I am sharing my 3rd LO from the Scrapbook Circle All Is Bright December kit & Holly Jolly Add-On.

It is a Lifting You layout, meaning the layout was inspired or "lifted" from one of the
Scrapbook Circle subscribers who shared their projects on the Facebook page.
The page I lifted, from Wendi was a great sketch with lots of layers, some paint
splatters and 2 photos.  I stuck pretty close to her LO in terms of placement of photos, title, etc.
but used red, white & light blue papers and embellishments that are in the kit.

I love punching snowflakes out of vellum...they always shows up in my Christmas projects!
I used the SBC cut files to cut the December tag on my Cameo and painted it a light blue with watercolors.
I also used the watercolors in the top left corner to give a place for the snowflakes to fall :)

I used glossy accents on the peppermint and black stickers from Studio Calico to give
them a little shine next to the giant red rhinestone from Glitz.  These products are from
several different manufacturer's collections but all work so well with each other!
One of my favorite things about Scrapbook Circle is the unique perspective Lisa has in pulling a kit together.

I love this color combo for Christmas and winter themes...cool and refreshing!
You can see Wendi's inspiration page and the original post on the Scrapbook Circle Blog.
Share your projects made with your kits on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page
if you want your page selected for a future Lifted LO!

Thanks for checking it out!  Have a great week...

Christmas Card Pockets 2007-2012...Scrapbook Circle December LO

Saturday, December 14, 2013

Happy Saturday!
I am sharing one of the pages I did for the December Scrapbook Circle DT

I have a mini-album that I have all of our Christmas photo cards starting with my daughter's first
Christmas 9 years ago.  I wanted to make a full size page for our Christmas album that used
those photos but all in one.  I was inspired by this card from Glitz Design about the pocket
and thought I would make little pockets for just the photo part of our past 5 cards.

This was a pretty labor intensive LO, as far as time, but I love the way it turned out.
I used my Cameo to cut the little library card pockets from some of the kraft cardstock.
Then I cut down the pictures to fit and attached them to a little piece of paper from the Allison Kreft 6x6 paper.

I punched an all over star punch in the front of each of the pockets and then covered that
with a layer of the silver star acetate.  I made a grid of the kraft pockets and layered them
onto some of the Glitz papers and cards then stitched them all down.  I used the red glitter
ribbon and some punches from different papers in the kit to add to each pocket as well.

I added a little bit of journaling with the kids' ages, date and place the photos were taken on
the back and added a few other buttons and embellishments.  The little heart inside the house is part
of the Scrapbook Circle printable that I punched with a postage stamp punch and covered the heart in Stickles!

I never realized until doing this page that all of their photos are posed the exact same except last years...
with Sofia on the left and her arm around Sam.  That is one of the things I love about a collage type
page like this...you really LOOK at things, and maybe differently from ever before.

Check out the entire December kit details and other awesome projects from the rest of the
talented ladies on the Scrapbook Circle Blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

December Daily...1st - 5th

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Happy Thursday!!  Just a quick share of the first part of my December Daily!
This is the first one I have ever done and I am really enjoying it.  I thought I would be farther
behind than I am, considering this time of year...I have been doing pretty good at keeping up with it,
but we have had such gloomy weather, I couldn't photograph anything without lots of glare.
I thought I would post them in groups of five...

I bought a Simple Stories binder and some extra page sleeves.  I have been using a lot of different
products even though I had planned to only use a couple manufacturers...there is just too much fun
stuff to include!  Lots of Heidi Swapp, Elle's Studio, some older stamps from Ali Edwards and
some printables I found on Pinterest.  I pre-stamped all of my day numbers onto little sale tags
with a polka dot background stamp in silver and then the numbers in red.
I have been mixing it up as to how those are attached to the sleeves, sewn or stapled, etc.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and I can post the next five pages by the weekend!
I had originally planned to go thru the end of the month, but that may not happen!

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Joys...Scrap Our Stash DT - Subway Art December Stash Challenge!

Sunday, December 8, 2013

Hi everyone!  It has been a nasty rainy day here in Alabama and is the perfect weather to
catch up on some posting and scrapping and oh yeah, that whole Holiday thing!

This is my LO for the first Challenge-Word Art Inspiration this December from Scrap Our Stash.
It is all about family and being thankful...and to use this Subway Art as inspiration and in your title.

The stash part of the Challenge is to use 4 photo corners, which were some seriously old
stickers and chipboard corners in my stash!  Perfect use for those little forgotten lovelies...

The prize, from Lawn Fawn is totally awesome!  Wish I could win it!  :)
Go check out the BLOG for the Challenge details, rules and other DT Inspiration.
Link up your entry by December 29th 11:59 (PST) in order to win!

After all the Christmas projects and planning it was nice to use some different colors and papers.
Despite the gloomy weather and short days, his is one of my favorite color combos these days.
I love this peachy color with mint and gold, and some black really makes it pop!

This was a quick phone photo I took at one of our favorite places to eat.  My husband and I have been going to this restaurant with his family since we have been dating for about 15 years.  It is where we had our rehearsal dinner before our wedding.  We went there with my daughter when she was just a couple weeks old.

Needless to say, it is a special place and finally our kids are grown up enough to
sit patiently (ahem...) and wait for a nice meal to be served...and it is Italian.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!
